5. The following age
divisions (as of September 1st of the current year) apply for point
standings for both Meat Goat and Showmanship Classes.
Pee Wee - Age 8 and
under
Junior - Age 9-11
Intermediate - Age 12-14
Senior Age - 15 - 18
Participation of Pee Wee exhibitors will depend on the rules
of each show.
6. A member may
accumulate points on a maximum of 2 meat goats per show. More than 2 goats may be entered in the show
but only the 2 highest placing goats will have their points recorded. The
number of shows to count for points will be limited to 75% of the total shows
for the year at the discretion of show team management.
7. Members must own
and care for their own goats. Siblings cannot share ownership of a goat and
each receive points for that animal.
Unethical care and ownership will not be
tolerated. No member may borrow a meat
goat from another person to show in his/her name. Violation of this rule could lead to
disbarment from membership in the JETMGST and the loss of all points previously
earned.
A member must show their animal in the show
ring with the following exceptions:
a. A member must
exhibit their own animal without assistance from another individual in order to
earn points.
b. A member must
exhibit their own animal unless they have more than one animal in a single
class.
c. If the member is
in attendance but is physically unable to show their animal, an eligible exhibitor may show the goat
and a notation made on the results sheet. NOTE: If a member violates
this rule they will forfeit all points earned at the show. Any member attending a show who feels that
any of the above rules are being violated should bring it to the attention of
the Show Team Management.
8. No bracing rule: Exhibitors will not lift the front legs of
goats off the ground or brace animals during judging. Exhibitors must
allow animals to stand naturally during
judging. This
does not mean an exhibitor cannot prevent the animal from moving forward during
judging by standing in front of the animal. Goats MUST be shown with all
four feet on the ground. The judges will have the option of asking the
exhibitor to let the animal stand naturally if they desire. The front end of
the animal maybe slightly lifted off of the ground to set up the front legs
only. Then the goats feet must remain on
the ground. Violation of this rule
could result in the forfeit of all points earned at the show. Continued violation of this rule could lead
to disbarment from membership in the JETMGST and the loss of all points
previously earned.
9. Members are responsible for showing in the
correct class and age division.
Showmanship and Placing points may be lost if you show in
the wrong class or age group.
10.
